What Makes a Vehicle a Green Vehicle? When it comes to green cars and trucks, they are perfect for the environment but do you really know what makes a green vehicle? Believe it or not, not a lot of people do. They know that owning a green car is great for the environment, but you would be surprised just how many people have no idea what makes a car green or that there are many different types of green cars and green driving. In this article, we will explore what makes a car green and what green driving is, to make it easy for everyone to understand! So if you have been living under a rock for a while and do not know exactly what a green car is, it is a car that uses an alternative fuel other than gasoline to run. Now that you have that tidbit of information you are probably wondering what makes a green car different from a normal car. Well, besides the fuel that the car runs on, green cars are not all that different unless the car runs on a rechargeable battery. Not that many people realize that there are actually five different types of green cars available for you to choose from when you are looking to switch over to green driving. Hybrid, Electric, Hydrogen, Biodiesel and Fuel Cell are the most popular. Now you are probably curious as to what all of those green cars are and what they mean right? Well, a hybrid car actually has a gas engine with an electric motor, so you can use either or when you are driving. Electric cars are pretty much self-explanatory; they use an electric-powered motor and a rechargeable battery. Hydrogen cars burn hydrogen to fuel the motor and does not have a gas motor or electric. Biodiesel cars use biodegradable fuel which powers their cars and finally, fuel cell cars generate electricity via a chemical reaction between hydrogen and oxygen. As you can see, when you are switching over to a green car, you are definitely making a huge decision. Not only will a green car help the environment but you also really need to think about what you like and what you want out of your car. If you are planning on going long distances, you may not want to invest in a car that needs to recharge its battery as you may not know when you can stop and recharge it. Switching from a regular car to a green car is definitely a huge decision but it is one that is absolutely worth it. Whenever you use a green car, you are decreasing a lot of the greenhouse gases that are emitted into the air constantly. Also, what a lot of people do not know is that green cars are generally, on the whole, cheaper to run and cheaper to maintain over regular cars. Especially now-a-day, mechanics are more likely to have all of the parts in to your green car over a foreign car that you bring into their shop. While driving green is a big decision, it is one that is absolutely worth it and totally up to you to make. There are many, many different benefits to owning a green car, but they are quite a bit more expensive. The decision is ultimately yours and you, as a car owner need to make sure that you make the very best one considering your life style. If you are on the go constantly and looking for a car that will help the environment, investing in a green car would definitely be worth it! If you are not in your car all of the time and do not really car about the environment, maybe driving green is not for you! |
